Your foundation may feel it can achieve more with its funding. Undertaking a thorough review of your funding – looking at your objectives, processes and grant history – can help you to achieve a higher social return. Some of your considerations may include:
Is the foundation achieving its objectives and maximising its social impact?
Do the processes work well?
Finding what works
NPC worked with a foundation that had been giving small grants to a wide number of charities for many years. The trustees felt they had lost sight of what they were trying to achieve. They engaged an NPC advisor to carry out a review of what worked well and what didn’t and suggested ways to focus their giving to achieve more impact. NPC was also able to help the foundation with an exit strategy for the charities they no longer wanted to support.
