Making it happen

Once your foundation has decided where to focus its giving, you need to choose specific charities to support, work out the best ways of supporting them and make sure you get the appropriate feedback to measure the results. Some of your considerations may include:

How do we find effective charities that meet our objectives?

Can we co-fund with other foundations?

We want to fund internationally but don’t know how to do it?

Focus for foundations

NPC helped a foundation to work out its focus – they chose to support children at risk of truancy and exclusion. The foundation committed £1m per year for five years to a mixture of NPC recommended charities that met their criteria and some they had selected themselves after several training sessions on effective charity analysis from NPC’s research team.
