'It was really interesting to see the differences between Italy and the UK. For example, the Italian daily centres all mentioned the importance of the children eating a meal or snack together—an activity not emphasised by those charities in the UK. But we saw this as how daily centres in Italy hope to improve the well-being of the children, which UK charities also aim to do. Both countries could definitely learn from each other, particularly once they have a better understanding of exactly what aspects of their work make them most effective in improving children’s lives.
