NPC publishes its strategy consulting work for the first time

While NPC has always made its research reports freely available, for the first time ever, we have also now published an example of our consultancy work online.  The reports, commissioned in early 2009 by the Bankers Benevolent Fund, a London-based charity, research the needs of the different groups of people the fund supports. This research was then used to help the Fund review its strategy, and improve the support it provides. The reports, published with the permission of the Bankers Benevolent Fund, are available to download below.

  • Looking ahead: Reviewing the strategy of an occupational benevolent fund, provides an insight into the methodology behind NPC’s consulting work for the Bankers Benevolent Fund. It lays out the background to the strategy review, and describes the process and approach NPC employed in helping the Fund explore questions such as, ‘Who should we support?’ and ‘What are the unmet needs in our community?’ The report also summarises conclusions about the best ways the Fund could work and lays out next steps to be addressed in the future.
  • Targeting support: Needs of groups helped by the Bankers Benevolent Fund, is a research report produced for the Fund as part of its strategic review. It aims to inform trustee discussions about the needs of the people helped by the Fund, and to offer suggestions of how the Fund should focus its support. The report provides an overview of poverty, health and education in the UK, the Fund’s three focus areas, and includes illustrations of the type of financial and non-financial support required by individuals.
