The executive team is responsible for overall strategy and operations as well as the marketing of NPC.

Martin Brookes, Chief Executive

Martin BrookesMartin Brookes was appointed Chief Executive of New Philanthropy Capital in April 2008. He has been at NPC since 2001, heading up the organisation's research team from 2003.

Martin is an avid believer in making a market for charitable giving more efficient by measuring charity outcomes and ensuring that money flows to those charities that use it best. His lecture at the RSA in 2007 helped kickstart a debate about charity effectiveness.

Prior to joining NPC, Martin was a senior economist at Goldman Sachs International from 1994 to 2001 and, before that, an economist at the Bank of England. He also conducted research for Amnesty International in 2001. Martin sits on the council of the Economic and Social Research Council. Jocelyn James, Chief Operating Officer

Jocelyn JamesJocelyn joined NPC in October 2006 and is responsible for the financial, legal and operational aspects of the organisation. Before joining NPC, Jocelyn was COO of GuideStar UK from its inception in 2003. Her career has mainly been in the City and included nine years at the investment bank, Schroder Wertheim. Jocelyn qualified with Arthur Young as a chartered accountant. jjames@philanthropycapital.org

Joanna Ballard, Office ManagerJoanna Ballard

Joanna is the first point of contact for those wishing to get in touch with NPC. She coordinates all recruitment into NPC and assists with direct marketing for the marketing team. She is responsible for NPC systems, including IT, and acts as PA for Jocelyn James, Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Joanna worked as a project coordinator for the public sector team of an international recruitment agency. jballard@philanthropycapital.org

Sue Wixley, Head of Communications and Marketing

Sue WixleySue leads the Marketing team in promoting and communicating NPC’s mission and services to clients, charities and opinion formers. Sue manages NPC's PR activities and handles queries from journalists. Sue has worked in marketing and advocacy in the non-profit sector for over 15 years, including for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines in the UK and Bosnia & Herzegovina, Amnesty International and Oxfam, and charities in South Africa. swixley@philanthropycapital.org


Plum Lomax, Marketing Manager

Plum LomaxPlum works with intermediaries, including private banks, lawyers and family offices and also manages our website. She is also responsible for developing new tools and approaches to disseminate our research widely. Plum previously worked in the City at Merrill Lynch, where she was Head of European Equity Strategy. She has also worked with small businesses and charities in London and Cape Town. plomax@philanthropycapital.org


Louise Taylor, Marketing Consultant

Louise joined NPC in October 2007 as a part-time consultant to the marketing team. She is currently working on Giving Trends. Louise’s career to date has been entirely in the corporate sector where she specialised in international consumer research, most recently working for PepsiCo. ltaylor@philanthropycapital.org


Jane Thomas, Senior Marketing Executive

Jane ThomasJane is the editor of Giving Insights, NPC's quarterly magazine and is also responsible for messaging new research reports and managing NPC's marketing materials. She also works on NPC's website. Jane graduated from Oxford with a Philosophy and Theology degree and has previously interned at advertising agencies and a brand consultancy. jthomas@philanthropycapital.org
